Old Cord is a custom spool store run by a mid-20 angler living in Nara, Japan, who designs, develops, manufactures, and maintains the website all by myself (hence the constant shortage of stock).
The creator (me) has experience in almost all types of fishing, including ocean fishing and bass fishing, and currently enjoys mainly native trout fishing.
Mountain streams are not only a beautiful place to encounter fish, but also a wonderful place to feel the unity of mountains, rivers and nature.
After using a variety of reels, I decided that old tackle is the best for mountain streams, so I now use old reels for all my fishing trips.
I haven't touched the latest modern reels for a long time, but I'm sure they have evolved tremendously. On the other hand, old reels are rarely produced anymore, so I guess you could say they are degenerating rather than evolving.
This is one of the reasons why I am attracted to old reels.
However, I haven't been able to go fishing much lately because I've been working on new spools, and I've been asking myself, "What the hell am I making these for?"
But contrary, when I imagine the scene where my spool meets a fish, I feel more joyful than when I fish.
There are many beautiful mountains in Japan, including Nara Prefecture, that are open to the public by fishing cooperatives.
I would like to pass on such wonderful scenery and old reels to future generations forever.
With this in mind, I named it "Old Cord, Passing on the legacy of the Past."
